Plastic, cute, small, and safer with no small parts. Best for those between 2 and 4 years old. The four tiaras come in two styles: Two are like traditional headbands, and two are more crown style with three comb prongs on each side. The headbands did not fit the head of a petite five-year-old girl. They work better for toddlers/preschoolers with small/narrow heads. Other than that, the style of the tiaras had no sharp edges apart from the combs on the crowns. No gem pieces to fall off. The “jewels” are actually just painted dented parts of the tiara to give the illusion of gems…

Granddaughter Loves Them I’m always happy with “Melissa & Doug” products. This Tiara/Crown set are very cute. They already have my granddaughters stamp of approval. I’m never excited about any toy being plastic. This set seems to be durable. I think the tiaras are made with a stronger plastic than the crowns. They almost seem like silicone or rubber. The one thing that I really do love about these are the “Gems” & Flowers. They aren’t little plastic things that can fall off. They really are kind of an optical illusion…
