requires patience & perseverance It’s a nice set but not for the faint of heart. The track is much more flexible than the ballasted style trackmaster sections to accommodate the steeper grades. Unfortunately, this causes it to give way under the weight of the passing train in some spots. Also, this particular style of track is too difficult for most toddlers to put together and pull apart. It requires precision alignment and considerable effort to join the sections. I find entertainment value in watching my older kids…
The old designs were much better… My son received this for his third birthday. He has probably got about 20 motorized engines and about five Trackmaster sets before this. This set has redesigned tracks that are atrocious. They have tabs on the ends of some pieces of track that make them not want to connect together or stay connected together and there are a ton of extra pieces and parts that would have been one-piece in older sets, that are now three pieces.
