Product NOT as Pictured – False Advertising Leads to Customer Mistrust In my experience, it’s unusual for a Melissa & Doug product to fall short of expectations, but this one is a stinker. FIRST, the spinner does not work at all. SECOND, multiple product photos — including one on the product packaging — show children standing as they use the fishing rods. In reality, the string on each rod is so short that kids have to sit or kneel to reach a fish on the floor. It’s blatant false advertising, and a huge disappointment. Did they update the fishing line??!?? Is the fishing line longer now or did I purchase a defective one?! I purchased this in July and my daughter rarely plays it since the fishing line is incredibly SHORT. It only unwinds 2 inches which is absolutely pointless.

A decent toy but be aware it won’t take much rough handling from a toddler. We bought this for a 3-year old relative and he’s pretty happy with it. His older brother and sister actually do go fishing and this little game helps him feel that he’s part of it all as well. The child is happy, but I’m just a little bit disappointed with the quality of the rod and reel. They are a bit flimsy and the fishing line is extremely short. He’s used it several times and the bobber has already come apart. No big deal, but it is annoying. A three-year-old can be rough with toys so…
