Skwish from Manhattan Toy is a time honored classic, instantly recognizable, an intriguing blend of ingenious design and developmental function. The geometrical shape and interconnecting wooden dowels have long piqued the curiosity of adults – imagine how it must appear to a baby as they begin to experience the world around them? Skwish may not turn every baby into a mathematical genius, but every baby can joyfully benefit from its unique developmental features. Its natural finish and one of a kind shape instantly capture baby’s attention. The lightweight wooden dowels, smooth finish, and elastic ties make it easy for little hands to grab and hold. Babies will love “Skwishing” it down and watching it return to its original shape – Skwish is a perfect clutching toy for developing gross motor skills. The beads slide back and forth along the dowels when shaken, producing a very pleasing rattle and allowing baby to explore sound and learn cause and effect. The spatial and tactile elements have been shown to be helpful to those on the Autism spectrum. Skwish is carefully constructed of sustainable wood and features a smooth, un-dyed exterior surface. For over 30 years, Manhattan Toy has been making award-winning, high quality, visually appealing toys for babies, toddlers and kids. Great first toy for infants Purchased one of these in the natural color you see here, then also found one in the “color burst” variety. Ended up giving this away to a friend who just had a baby and saved the other one for my son. I don’t know if my baby would have enjoyed this toy any less without the colored paint (and I know some moms are really concerned about giving anything painted to their kids for fear of the baby eating potentially dangerous paint chips) and I’m happy to report that this is by far my baby’s…

A great, packable toy We love the Skwish, and my 7.5mo does, too! It’s easy for him to grab and he likes chewing on it, which is why I purchased the Natural finish as opposed to the painted version of the same product. The Skwish ‘collapses’ so it can fit into a diaper bag which is also a nice feature. I also really like the sound that the wooden balls make when you gently rattle them back and forth.. it’s very soothing.

Great beginning toy for early graspers I bought this for my oldest daughter when she was a few months old. The structure of the toy makes it easy for little hands to grasp well before they have the motor control to grasp other toys. I thought that maybe my oldest daughter just preferred this toy, but my son and youngest daughter both started picking this up too around 2-3 months before they could grasp other toys. All my babies seemed to like chewing on the wooden nubs at the end and like the gentle sound it makes when shook…
