A fun project. Coaster works really well. After a 2-3 hour assembly process, I was quite pleased with how well this product functioned. The car glides smoothly along the track propelled by an initial thrust from a rubber band ending elegantly right back where it started. It’s fun for a little while, but the novelty wears off quickly.The assembly process took me at least 2 hours to complete in spite of the instruction manual, which was adequate but paled in comparison to LEGO instructions. It took 4 hours and 35 minutes for my 11-year-old son build this by himself. He says the instructions and drawings in K’nex are harder to follow than Lego because it’s not always easy to see the orientation. Lego tends to be walled — meaning not a lot of openness like the K’nex.A few pieces have tricky placement that tend to snap back out. (For example, one piece has to go crossways at an angle. It’s awkward.) This is rarely a problem with bricks…

Pay close attention to the age requirements to build this kit – a nine year old could build this with help. If you are an experienced K’Nex builder, I’m thinking this would be a lot easier to build. If you are coming from Lego instructions, wow this is a lot of work and hard to figure out. The part distinction was pretty hard to do. Yellow and orange parts looked a lot alike on the instructions.
