A little mandrake root, a little raven’s feather. Toss them in the cauldron and see what they make. Should you drink it? Maybe not. After all, that’s what students are for.

Welcome to the world of Alchemists! Perform experiments to discover the magical properties of your ingredients. Demonstrate your knowledge by selling potions. Use the money to buy artifacts that further your research. Publish, publish, publish! Earn grants. And expose the fallacies published by those fools who think they can be your rivals.

Alchemists is a game of strategy, risk assessment, and deduction. Do you experiment to get more knowledge or do you publish now to get more points? Pay to endorse the latest theory of toads or save your money for an artifact? And should you really be selling that potion to the large axe-wielding barbarian when you aren’t quite sure of its effects? The choices you make will prove whether you are the world’s greatest alchemist.

Amazing deduction game, integrates with app for endless replayability. You can add this to the list of games I adore despite not necessarily being something I often gravitate towards. I’m not the biggest fan of deduction games but despite that I was always kind of excited for this game because of the integration with an app that is actually far from just a gimmick but makes each game variable. I love genuine replayability in my games and this one offers a lot of that in a really beautiful, elegant, and fun package.

Fun, Beautiful, Really Complicated I agree with the other reviewer on almost all points. It is beautiful and interesting, the app integration makes sense and adds to the fun, and the mechanics of the game really make it feel like you are discovering arcane secrets. The only thing I think needs to be pointed out is how complicated it is. I just played this for the first time and we spent over an hour learning/playing before we had even heard about all of the different elements of play and scoring. I still found it fun and want to…

This is a fun game but a complicated game to teach This is a fun game but a complicated game to teach. Will not work for a casual gamer as you can’t really just bumble your way through it. The deduction element of the game is really fun and the risks you take in this game can backfire on you and ruin everything but that’s what makes it enjoyable. Works best for a gaming group but I wouldn’t try to teach it to my family.
