Go is an ancient game of Chinese origin from over 4000 years ago that was formalized in Japan during the 15th century. The objective of the game is to dominate and control territory while capturing your opponent’s pieces. The game rewards patience and concentration rather than greed and aggression. The shifting balance of territory and power can unnerve even the most disciplined and intellectual player.
Go is the most complicated board game mathematically – significantly more difficult than chess. Because of the complexity, it is believed that there have never been two identical games of Go.
It is said that the game of Go only takes moments to learn and a lifetime to master. The object of Go is to dominate territory and to capture as many of your opposing player’s stones as possible. The end of the game is known when none of the players can set any of their stones on the board. Five Stars exactly what you would expect in a GO! game.
My husband loves it. My husband is obsessed with this game. It drives me insane, though, haha. I get frustrated occasionally (not in a bad way) and I haven’t won a single game yet, so there’s definitely a lot to learn. This game is a tough one for sure. The product is good and is as described. The wood is fake (not a problem for me). We already have some chipped corners but only because we are not careful with it.
Poor quality This Go set (aka Weiqi) is of rather poor quality. The wood used is low-quality, which results in a lot of imperfections on the surface. The drawers are small and wiggle a lot and cannot be opened or closed easily due to poor construction. The chess pieces are a joke, really small and so flat on both sides that they’re difficult to pick up! The single instruction sheet also erroneously states the game originated in Japan (it actually originated in China at least 3,000 years ago). I cannot…
