Game Description: In Valley of the Kings, 2-4 players are Egyptian nobles at the time of the pharaohs, preparing for their death and burial in the Valley of the Kings. In the Egyptian religion, when you die you can take it with you! Egyptians therefore stocked their tombs with food, shabti (statuettes of servants who will work for them in the afterlife), canopic jars (to preserve their organs), statues of the gods, household items, and amulets. You compete with the other players to accumulate the best artifacts for your tomb. At the end of the game, you score the artifacts stored there – the player with the most victory points wins! Product Type text: Valley of the Kings is an innovative deck-building game. Each card can be used three different ways so players must carefully decide whether to spend a card for its cash value, use it for its action, or entomb it for victory points. Valley of the Kings requires that players carefully manage deck building and victory point accumulation. The most valuable cards to have in your hand are also the most valuable to have in your tomb. The end game is frequently a scramble to get the good stuff stored away.

A Great Litte Deck Building Game Valley of the Kings, from AEG, is a great little deck building game for 2-4 players. There are three different tiers of cards- I, II, and III. The tier II cards are then placed on top of the tier III cards, ensuring that the cards that come out will be more expensive and more powerful. From this deck cards are laid out in pyramid formation. On your turn you may buy cards from the pyramid with gold from cards,…

Add this to your BGG wishlist This game was a gift for a friend off of their Board Game Geek wish list. This friend has good taste in games and Valley of the Kings did not disappoint. For a small footprint card game it was surprisingly deep. Every piece of the game has strategy from buying to entombing. This is not a game to play with your friends if they can’t handle others actions effecting them. The instructions were minimal but clear with the flow of the game becoming evident after a round or two. First play through was…

Fun and Challenging Excellent deck-building strategy game, which requires some finesse. As an Ancient Egyptian noble, you’re trying to stock your tomb with goods for the afterlife, while attempting to prevent your rival noblemen from stocking theirs. A lot of this game hinges on deciding the critical point at which you should “entomb” your cards as opposed to playing them in the action turns of the game. Entomb too early, and you miss out on the benefits of the actions on the cards. Entomb too late, and…
