The Maya were a highly developed civilization known for its unique art, complex architecture, sophisticated mathematics and advanced knowledge of the stars. At the heart of their society was a mysterious calendar – Tzolk’in. With a length of 260 days, it could predict the right time to plant seeds, the time to build monuments, the day a new baby would be born as well as the movement of the planets. It was the centerpiece of the Mayan cycle of life.
We invite you to become one of the ajaw, the leaders of Mayan tribes. Please the gods and lead your clan to prosperity!
As in the life of ancient Maya, the center of our game is the Tzolk’in calendar – a set of gears that rotate each round of the game. This unique system helps you to visualize the cyclic flow of time and plan your actions in advance. Harvest crops now, or wait for them to grow a little more for higher yield? All will be clear to see on the wheels of time.

Great game for 2 players This review is for those looking to play Tzolk’in as a 2 player game. I found this to be very enjoyable with just two people and didn’t feel the game suffers if you don’t have three or four players. There are a few setup conditions that change in a two versus four player game but they don’t dumb the game down in any way. With so many areas to concentrate in Tzolk’in (the different gears and different tracks) there is plenty for each player to do and different ways to approach the game. There is…
Really different game Bought this game for my 31 year-old son for his bday. Four of us played it last night. He played it a couple of times before and was familiar with the rules. Which is a good thing since it seemed, at first, it seemed complicated. I own and have played, Puerto Rico, Dominion series, Twilight Struggle, Carcassone and Ticket to Ride. This game is probably closest to Puerto Rico. My wife likes this better than Puerto Rico. But it could be because she beat me. The rules look like Rio Grande and and…
Worker Placement with a time element built in. Pretty awesome stuff! This is a worker placement game with a slight twist. I am sure that you can read many of the other reviews to get a since of whether you’d like the game or not. So I’ll give my quick two cents. I really like this game, however I can see why not everyone would like it. If you like games that involve attacking or some sort of “take that” element then I’d say pass on this one. I’ve played it 5 times so far with a high score of 78 points. I’ve read online that good players can get…
