With more than 325 learning games, videos, books, and apps available for the LeapPad2, it’s easy to keep your child entertained on long car trips or at your favorite restaurant. The LeapPad2 has a game-cartridge slot for backwards compatibility with the entire existing Leapster Explorer Library. The curriculum covers spelling, phonics, mathematics, science, music, and geography, among other subjects.
The LeapPad2 also automatically adjusts activities, so that kids can learn at their own pace while staying engaged. They can even practice writing with the included child-sized stylus.
The LeapPad2’s online tool, the Learning Path, allows you to tune into your child’s progress, track achievements, and share his or her photos and creations. Hands down the best choice for a child-friendly tablet If you want a child-friendly tablet-style device, this is the best one on the market as of October 2012. But you have to understand what you’re getting and why this is desirable. There are a lot of positive reviews that are a bit inflated, and many negative reviews that are simply unfair in their expectations. Here’s my realistic parent-friendly review…
Differences between the original LeapPad and the LeapPad2 We gave the original leappad to my 4yo daughter last Christmas. She absolutely loved it. In fact she loved it a little too much, as it started to interfere with bedtime. Unfortunately I accidentally left her leappad on an airplane. She was crushed.
3 year old loves it! Great improvement over the original. I was really excited to receive the new LeapPad2 because I saw the recommended age changed for 4-9 years to 3-9 years. My son just turned 3.
