My 7 year old has been hooked on these for … My 7 year old has been hooked on these for at least 6 mths. Yes, 7 year olds can do these. My son has made the simple ones and the huge elaborate ones with moving parts. The instructions are tough at first, but I was surprised at how quickly he figures it out. He loves to come up with some of his own creations, which is hard to do with typical Lego kits.

K’nex, a multi-generational toy! For the nay-sayers who doubt the ability of a child to use these… Maybe it’s because you haven’t taken the time to sit down in the floor and help them figure it out! My 7 year old granddaughter spends hours building things and because the instructions are in color she just looks at the pictures and figures it out. Her 3 year old sister is also totally able to assemble simple things and has fun just clicking pieces together and exclaiming excitedly “Look what I builded PopPop!” K’nex…
