Play restaurant or call “Dinner’s Ready!” with Hape’s Gourmet Kitchen. Little chefs three years and up will delight in preparing and serving their favorite meals. It’s the perfect size for them. See what’s cooking through the oven window and then slide in a tray of cookies on the realistic die-cut oven rack. Heat up something scrumptious on the stove or in the oven and make sure to adjust the dials to the right temperature with a satisfying €œclick€. Wash up in the sink with hot or cold water and remove the tub to use to tote groceries. Store food and other kitchen essentials in the cabinet (or it could be a fridge). Little ones can do it all. There’s even a shelf on the backsplash to display cooking utensils and plates. Cabinet doors have magnetic closures to keep the oven or fridge doors closed. The Gourmet Kitchen is beautifully designed and easy to assemble with detailed instructions. Like all Hape products, the modern lifestyle colors combine with a traditional look allowing the kitchen to fit right in with the real thing (there’s no need to banish it to the play room).
Imaginative Play is Playfully Delicious
Your little chef will love the options the Gourmet Kitchen offers. She can create just one dish of food to serve friends, family, or her stuffed animals for dinner or mix them together and serve specials of the day at her restaurant. Gourmet Kitchen is part of Hape’s Playfully Delicious toy range, designed to promote realistic role play, language development, and encourage healthy eating. Hape suggests these tips for parents to engage with their child while playing with the Gourmet Kitchen: sit back and be served by your cook. Encourage dialogue. Ask what is in the dinner and how it was made. Introduce the idea of good and better foods and categories of food (fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, etc.) Pretend to be a customer in a restaurant and be served. Add props to increase imaginative play: juice boxes, pretend fruits, vegetables, and other food, clean milk cartons, plastic cups, and go grocery shopping.
Quick, Simple Assembly
The Gourmet Kitchen is beautifully-designed and easy to assemble with detailed straight-forward instructions. An allen wrench (included) is the only tool required for assembly. Knobs, dials, and hinges are pre-installed and holes are predrilled to allow for quick setup.
High Quality Always from Hape
Rest assured, Hape products are carefully made of natural materials including wood from sustainably managed forests. The stove and oven dials are made of maple and the entire kitchen is colored with water-based paints. The safety of children is extremely important to Hape as a manufacturer whose range of toys is inspired by children. That is precisely why they place such high standards on the careful selection and processing of materials in the development of their toys. They source top-of-the-line materials from responsible suppliers around the world. The required raw materials list includes birch plywood from Russia and beech wood and water stain from Germany. All Hape products conform to toy testing as required by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) for the US and Canada. In fact, all toys also pass the strictest international standards of Europe and Japan, too.

Top Toddler Chefs Love This Kitchen For younger kids, this is a really smart choice. We were looking in a store which sold several wooden kitchens. We chose this kitchen for our then 18-month-old because it was the safest and sturdiest model we could find, and we loved the retro look. I realize that it’s recommended for children ages 3 and older. If you are using all of the pieces, I certainly wouldn’t use it for a child as young as our son was. We removed the faucet pieces and found it to be otherwise safe for our son. We’ve…
Beware, Made of Particleboard and Plywood, not “solid wood construction” My mother wanted to get her granddaughter a safe, affordable, non-toxic play kitchen for Christmas. After researching reviews and product descriptions, I insisted she get this one because it was under $100, didn’t have the usual pink/purple color scheme that many other kitchens had, and I thought it was made entirely of plywood, not MDF / particleboard which often contains high levels of formaldehyde that off-gas into your home. The description on Amazon says, “Quality crafted from Baltic Birch…
Not solid wood, not even plywood! This kitchen is not make of solid wood! It’s not even made of plywood. Yes, there are some plywood panels but all the green parts–the surface top and the cabinet doors–as well as the shelves and back are made of what appears to be compressed pulverized cardboard. It’s the kind of material that rots through and through if ever exposed to water. Also, some of the screw holes were very hard to match up which made assembly unnecessarily challenging as well (faucet part ultimately had be to…
