Have a cow, man 2016 was an uncommonly great year for tabletop gaming. Boosted by Kickstarter and rising production quality across the industry, there were so many titles that came out that soared above and beyond consumer expectations. Scythe and Terraforming Mars as of the date of this review have the most hype, praise and staying power of games released in that incredible year. And with good reason, those two games are brilliant games I am always willing to play.
This game is near perfect, it incorporates many different game mechanisms We’ve played a lot of games, some short lived, some become favorites. This game is near perfect, it incorporates many different game mechanisms, but all of them flow together quite well. My favorite aspect of this game is each time we’ve played (2p and 3p), we’ve wanted it to last longer; even though it’s 1.5 – 4 hours, it plays so easily that your head won’t hurt, you won’t feel exhausted and you’ll be honestly wanting to replay immediately.
So many strategies; so much fun I was worried this game would be too dense or complicated for me, but I cannot overstate how enjoyable this game is. There is a ton of stuff going on in this game, and there are so many different places that your points can come from. It utilizes a few different mechanisms like deck building, a rondel-like system, and engine building.
